LJC Open Conference - Save the date: Sat 26th Nov 2011

Hi,

The London Java Community would like to announce the date for it's annual
Open Conference that this year will be held on Sat 26th November 2011.  Last year was a really great conference, with 70 attendees! As a result, the format for the event will be very similar to last year (as it was so good).  We will be adding some new bits to make sure this year is even better, and we're increasing numbers slightly due to the high ticket demand (To be guaranteed a space, sign up straight away when we open registrations).  I encouraging you to get involved and contribute to this year's success by doing one of the following at the event:
  • Present a lightning talk or an ignite talk : a 5 minute, no frills presentation that you can talk about a topic of your choice.... what would you like to share with the wider group?  This is a great opportunity if you're not used to presenting.  We're a (mostly ;o) ) friendly bunch, so give it a try in a no pressure environment.
  • Present a session : Present a 30 minute session!  You will be able to submit sessions to us on the day, or before.
  • Run a workshop :  As a new addition to the event, we will be accepting submissions for live coding demos/workshops.  These will need to be submitted in advance.
  • Lead some break out sessions :  On the day, you will be able to suggest topics you may be interested in and if others are interested, there will be plenty of space to have a breakout session and have a chat over a coffee with like minded developers.
  • Turn up and mingle with UK and worldwide leaders in their fields.  The LJC has launched many careers including authors, speakers etc. The next one may be yours! :o)

For those of you going to JAX London this year, stop by at the LJC stand and we can chat in more detail about the event.

The location will likely be IBM South Bank again (tbc), and rest assured, there will be beer ;o)

I'll follow up with more information as details get confirmed, and will let you all know when we are accepting submissions and more importantly when you can turn up!

Thanks,

Simon Maple
