Re: [ljc] Annual LJC Community awards?

Hi all,

The final votes were pretty inconclusive and with only 20 people voting it's hardly representative of the community :-).  So still shelving this one.

Thanks to all of those who did vote!

Cheers,
Martijn

I think this is a good idea. I would expect it to encourage people to participate more in the LJC.

Import thing to keep in mind is the criteria used to decide on who gets the awards to avoid making it counter productive idea.

If you have a view on this subject vote in the poll below.

Good idea Stephen!

For anyone with any strong views on the subject please visit the poll on: http://www.meetup.com/Londonjavacommunity/polls/405722

I think that there are already enough awards our there for recognition in software development, and Java in particular.

So my vote goes for not having yet another awards ceremony.

I realise democracy is a bit flawed, but do we have sort of online poll that Barry, Martijn, et al can use for gathering opinions on this sort of thing (Yes / No / Don't Care)

Hi Martijn,

I think we should un-shelve this :o) Community spirit is very important and I think nominating members is a great way to say well done and thank you to other LJC-ers (so long as it's not the same people every year ;o) ).  Maybe we could do a trial run at the open conference (voting + ceremony) and see how it gets on.

Thanks, Simon Maple

Hi all,

Due to the lack of response (+ve or -ve) we'll shelve this idea for now.

Cheers,
Martijn
