RE: [ljc] java concurrency in web apps

Thanks, but I was asking about existing applications, if anyone has experience with modern multi-threaded apps (or just knows) and can confirm my best guess which is that separate stand-alone apps deal with the multi-threading aspect. For example, I believe that stock trading software deals with high load and often implements concurrency management, but there must be a web element too to get the lastest information from online resources?

Jon

Solved.....  Well in an upcoming version of Java EE --> http://java.net/projects/concurrency-ee-spec

Hi all,

I have heard many times "do not create threads in a web app", since the container should manage them. However, the more modern APIs such as ExectorService appear to be used in web apps by some people. Can you use such java.util.concurrent classes in a wep app that requires multi-threading (e.g. due to high load), or do you forward data to a stand alone app that deals with the multi-threading? I can't find a definite answer on the internet.

Regards,
Jon
