Helping test Java 8

From: Martijn V.

Hi all,

I'm really excited about Java 8 coming out - lambdas are going to be of great benefit to the daily Java developer and date and time will finally be not broken ;-).

I *really* want Java 8 to be a success. In order for that to happen Java 8 needs to be tested against existing applications as much as possible. So we've started a Test Java 8 initiative and have been handing out happy Duke logos when a project is testing Java 8 as part of their CI build.

In it's first week:

* Tested 20 projects
* Raised 15 issues
* Seen about 10/15 issues get fixed (mostly with the app running Java)

So, I know everyone is really busy with the London life, but if everyone takes out just 1 hour and:

1. Tests *one* project then we'll have ~2000+ tested
2. Gets their colleagues to test *one* project then we'll have ~40,000 tested!

We're coordinating efforts on the [address removed] mailing list, please tell your friends and join us!

Cheers,
Martijn
