Have you had problems getting your messages to the LJC mailing list?

Hi guys

I’ve just been having a conversation with some members about emails they have sent to the community via our meetup which have not been posted.

LJC Meetup organisers approve the first message in a conversation just to make sure it’s right for the community, but on the rare occasions when we can’t approve an email we let people know why. So I’ve checked the Meetup help centre to find out more, and there is some helpful advice which I’m copying below. The email address and email size are critical!

Mailing List Issues
If you're having trouble sending an email to your Meetup Group's Mailing List, there are a couple things that might be causing the trouble:

Are you emailing from the right email address?
Emails sent to a Meetup Group's Mailing List must come from the email address associated with your Meetup account. If you aren't yet a member, or if you're emailing from an address that isn't attached to a Meetup account, the email won't go through.

Are you trying to send an email or an attachment that's too large?
Right now, emails sent through the Mailing List need to be less than 2MB total. That includes the email itself and any attachments. (Most text-only emails are just a few KBs -- HTML based emails can be a few hundred KBs.) If your trying to send an attachment that's very close to 2MB in size, the total size of the attachment and the email may be a bit too large.

Is it your very first time trying to email a Mailing List?
First time senders may receive an email asking them to confirm that they were trying to send a message to the entire Meetup Group. You'll need to click a link in that email to confirm that you're the sender, or the email won't be sent. If your message doesn't seem to go through, check your inbox and your spam filters to make sure you didn't miss that confirmation email.

I hope that helps. The idea of the mailing list is to enable all members can get involved in the conversations being held, so  please do check if your emails aren’t getting through. In case of a technical issue the Meetup website community team are the ones to ask. Their contact form is available here http://help.meetup.com/customer/portal/emails/new  You can also find it under the help section at the top right hand corner of the meetup screen. Please also let me know so I can see if there is anything the LJC organisers can do to help.

Best wishes

Maggie
