Dee and I Returned from Arkansas Weds eve the 21st and left the next day for Okl City and Amarillo. Hence, the late post. I can't add anything of significance to what has already been said. It was absolutely a great experience. Where did the time go?
Jim, I'm glad the Shadow was there for u. I love it when people owe me. lol.

I owe you BIG time. It was lots of fun riding that small bike. It corners very well. Thanks So Much Danny.

I came out pretty good on fixing my bike. found all the parts I need and with shipping and all it only came to about $75.00 dollars. not bad. it was worth it for all the fun I had and the friendship of all the people. thanks for a great time. Al

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kind words, both for me and for Jenny. I can't tell you how much it meant to us to have you all here for this visit. As much as I love the great roads and beautiful scenery around here, being able to share the experience with such wonderful people really takes it to another level. It's not only fun to ride the same road with someone and learn how they ride, but it's also great to sit around the bonfire, at the picnic table, or under the shade tree and learn a little bit about what makes them who they are.

    • Jim G.

Thanks again to you and Jenny. It was the best trip I've had so for and the people I spent it with are just great. I miss Arkansas already. As i rode home from Gary's house this morning, I was looking around at the horizon and there was nothing to see. I am now spoiled.

Have to agree with you Jim. Randy, it was great to see you again and Jenny's breakfast and hospitality made the day!

Rear brakes had to be replaced on Monday and my clutch would not disengage on Tuesday. Got the bike back to the camp site OK without having to stop. Thank you Danny for bringing your Shadow for a back-up. I'm still able to ride these last 2 days. I owe you big time.

Sorry this took so long. This was just a great trip. So much that i am still smiling. I got to ride, i mean fly down talimino scenic drive on my way back. its alot funner at 50 to 80 mph than it was Tue on trip up when it was wet cold and foggy. my miles on this trip was 1978. My biggest trip so far. Thank you lonestar cruisers for making this such a great trip. Thank you to randy and his beautifull wife for thier hospitality. Randy you are a great leader on these rides. Can't wait to ride with you on another trip. You have tamed the three sisters.

This ride was a great success thanks to Randy and all you Cruisers who went. Eventhough we had some cool, damp weather, everyday was fantastic. I'm still here but can't wait to come back. After Eureka Springs yesterday, rode the "Race Track"ride and down to Boxley and over to Jasper. Today, Jim, Carla, Alex, and I rode with Randy to the White River and found some great places to fish and had some very good BBQ and the went over to Randy 's house before going back to Harrison. Tomorrow we are going to ride some of the roads that we couldn't see because of the clouds and have lunch at Low Gap. Coming home on Thursday darn it. See you all on the ride in Saturday.

  • Jim G.

Gary, Alex,Carla and I rode with Randy again today. Don't think I would ever get tired of riding around here. So much to see and its all beautiful. We are riding again tomorrow and we will back track some of the roads we rode on Saturday without all the clouds. I'll try and get some photos to share.

I want to personally thank Randy for leading us. Randy, you are a rational, reasonable, soft spoken individual, and a great leader! It was so great to go to an unfamiliar area and just follow without a care, though I was pretty puckered up saturday on some of those wet turns LOL. But Hey !!!!

Missed ya'll in Gassville, I left around 10:30AM. I didn't see Randy's last minute change on the Missouri meetup site (I just rolled out of bed when the alarm rang and crawled onto the bike and rode off). :)

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you Texan's but such is life.

I still had a good ride, hope you all did as well.

WARNING: We have some great windy roads up here in the Ozarks that go up and down over the hills and thru valleys, that's the FUN PART.

The BAD PART is there are a LOT of chipsealed roads, when this stuff gets old it gets LOOSE and the rain washes it onto the LOW parts of the roads, usually the inside of the turns in the valleys.

The loose gravel is very hard to see (since a layer of it looks just like the road surface). Forewarned is forearmed.

Enjoy yourselves while you're up here.

    Gregg

It's crazy!!! Today in the Ozarks we had the coldest high temperature ever recorded on this date. The local meteorologists are calling this "October in May". It does look a little bit better for the weekend.

If you should happen to be in Talihina around meal time you might check out a place called "Pam's Hateful Hussy". All the locals eat there and you'll see why.

      May 14

    • Tommy F.

That's our plan. Supper tomorrow and breakfast there friday. Last time we ate there Pam proposed to Al.

I just got off the phone with Debbie at the Hub. There is one room left, with 2 queens. She left a message for Kurt, who is next up on the waiting list, and hasn't heard back yet. I think everyone else is ironed out, I hope! ;)

I've been watching the weather up here in NW Arkansas and SW Missouri...it's crap right now but that's OK, it's just mother natures way of cleaning off the roads for a nice weekend.

NOTE: I did noticed all this wet is coming up from Texas (hmmm.....), I'm not pointing fingers but did any of you accidentally do a rain dance or sum'en?

I'm sure everyone's keeping an eye on the weather same as I am. It could be better. The weatherman is calling for 40% chance on Saturday and 30% on Sunday. Let's hope the forecast improves because the routes that are planned require dry roads. I do have alternate plans for rain-shortened days but I hope it doesn't come to that.

While we are at the Hub all rides will begin at the gas station located at the intersection of AR-206 and AR-7. This is about 2 miles north of the Hub and 1 mile west of the Shady Oaks camp grounds. This will be more convenient for all and allow us to make sure everyone has a full tank of gas.
