6 Day Ride to Big Bend with Ride On DFW

April 26th-May 1st

KSU 8:00 am

Recently Paul B, an Organizer with Ride On DFW joined our group and asked me to join their group for the purposes of sharing rides and information.

This is a 6 Day Trip to Big Bend National Park. The ride will take in part of the Three Sisters, the Pecos Trail and McDonald Observatory. And of course Big Bend. Approximately 1,500 miles round trip. There is plenty of time for taking in the sights.

So far there are eight riders going including Alex and me.

Depending on the amount of cb's on the trip, will determine the number of riders allowed on the trip.

HOTEL INFO AND DATES FOR RESERVATIONS.

Please make them as soon as possible. They fill up fast down there.  I just got my reservations and had no trouble getting them.

Paul had to change a couple of towns that we were going to stay in because they are booking up or the price for rooms was way too high. He tried to get the most reasonable rates possible and still be at decent motels. The Big Bend Resort is run by the National Park Service, even though it sits outside the boundary's of the park.

Paul will have the final GPS route available shortly and will give it to anyone going on the trip. Just ask for it.

This sounds like a great trip but you have act fast.  The motels are filling up fast.  Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6jhn5sNnlj8

Great day on the road with LSC and RODFW. Made some good friends and RC joined our group. Heading out early from Kerrville to ride one of the Sisters. We will ride RR337 all the way from Medina to Camp Wood and then head south to Uvalde and then west to Del Rio, over Lake Amistad and travel along the border on 90 to Marathon---about 360+ miles. Really pretty weather for this trip.

That will help, but in that area even the Federales are over matched. If this sounds like sour grapes on my part, that's because it is.

Really wish you could go. Hope you are feeling better. Just plotted it out on my GPS. Got new tires. Checked the fluids. Got my checklist ready with all the essentials necessary for this trip. Going to win the Iron Butt Award on this one

Dang!!! Sounds like a very fun ride. The Big Bend is my old stomping grounds. Marfa (home of the Marfa Lights) is my hometown. Unfortunately I leave for a week long work conference that Monday to Orlando. Looking forward to all the pictures. Have a safe ride and tons of fun.

Wow, sounds like a great trip. I sure want to go. Hey Doc (Gary), April 26th is 3 weeks and 2 days of healing time for me.....What do ya think? Can you give me a permission slip?

    2 · April 14

    • Tommy F.

Rick, it's a good sign of healing that you're thinking about upcoming rides. Glad you're getting better. Offer of assistance with anything still stands.

Rick, I can give you a permission slip but Carol may have you admitted to the Psyc Ward.

Bad, bad timing. Dee and I will be in Honolulu. Airfare, hotel and house sitter has all been arranged. The Big Bend area makes a great destination this time of year. I know you will enjoy the ride.

Yes, it will Danny. Just found out about the ride. We will miss you on this one but I know you will have a great time.
