you'llfind that some atheist groups are OK with sharing, as in my group.  others arent so easy to work with.  Althought the closest thing to an event calendar is on freethoughtalliance.org.

Norm,

I am sorry that everyone misunderstood my intent.  I did not mean under any circumstance that we should consolidate our groups.  I only meant to suggest that we coordinate in one Meetup calendar, using it as a tool.

Actually, I'm sorry I even mentioned it.

Hello Charlene I would have to agree with Claire, Getting all the groups together is something like herding cats. They all want to do thee own thing despite the fact that such unification could be in their best interests. The big problem would be how to meet the need for individuality and still be a group. Just a thought, not intending to offend anyone:

I would sure like to see all the atheist, freethought, and humanist groups in Orange County, inlcuding the West OC and Seal Beach Atheist groups, and Americans United for Separation of Church and State under the umbrella of ONE meetup group.  There is plenty of room for the dozen or so groups in OC on the calendar of one meetup group and plenty of room for individuality characteristic of atheists/humanists/freethinkers etc.

This will reduce cost, increase visibility and membership, and perhaps facilitate some activities besides just getting together and talking.

Thank you.
