A message from the Long Beach Freethought Society:

On Sunday, January 31, we are holding our first Monthly Informational. During this meeting we will have a speaker, live music, atheist testimonies, a moment of science, and other tidbits. Our speaker this month is Eddie Tabash* who will speak on The True Meaning of the Separation of Church and State. His talk will be an overview of the history of the First Amendment and an insight into the real intent of our nation's founders. Mr. Tabash will also address current church-state controversies and discuss the possible impact of the close votes on today's United States Supreme Court that could irreparably endanger the wall of separation between Church and State. A question and answer session will follow the talk.

The fee for this event is $10.00 per person 12 years of age or older. If paid in advance, entry is $8.50. Pre-paid attendees will receive priority seating. (No refunds.)

In the spirit of mutual support and understanding that all of our groups operate on meager (or nonexistent) financial support, the Long Beach Freethought Society has kindly pledged to donate $1 out of the entry fee for each of our members who pre-pay back to the West OC Atheists.

*Mr. Tabash is a constitutional attorney in the Los Angeles area. He chairs the national legal committee of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He is on the board of directors of the Center for Inquiry and the Council for Secular Humanism and chairs the Council's First Amendment Task Force. He has filed numerous briefs with the California and the United States Supreme Courts arguing for the notion of government neutrality in matters of religion.
