congratulations, Paul,on our first year.  I cannot wait until my schedule opens up and I will be able to join you on a garden tour.  Your meetups seem to fill up fast,  they are quite popular.

Subject: [gardening-204] My first year in meetup

HI Everyone

Saturday July[masked] I went to my very first meetup event. I went with the Beads Land's Group Nassau County Walking Group. I signed up to go the meetup event on Jul 5 but I was not sure if I was going to go until I got a phone call from Beads welcoming me to his group which was 9am Sat Jul 12. The first meetup event I went to was very good. The very first people I met were Loren and Steve Edlin two of the nicest people you will meet. And two good friends. After the first meetup event Loren kept e-mailing me to go more Meetup events. Finally a month later I went to Another event Beads had and that is when I decided that I was going to be a part of Meetup. I joined Lee Zetts Board Walk Meet up Group and His Movie Meetup Group. I also joined the Islanders meetup group and the Rangers meetup Group.

There was no Garden or Horticulture Groups in Long Island so in Dec of 2008 I decided to start my own this group as 8 meetup events already and Sunday July 12 will be 9 events. We have over 100 members already in this group. April[masked] I started my second meetup group Long Island Meetup and go and have had 6 events already.

What meetup has meant to me. First I made a lot of really good friends from meetup.Second it gave me a chance to see just how many meetup groups there are in LI. Third it gave me the opportunity to start my own groups and give people a chance to share my passions in gardening and go for walks in different gardens and arboretums in Long Island. Fourth and most special I met my girl friend through meet up. Sundays walk is very special to me because it is the one year anniversary of being involved with meetup. I am glad you will all be there to share this special occasion with me. I also thank everyone for joining this group it has been a real pleasure going to different places with you and making many new friends. I look forward to many more great meetup events with you.
