Long Island Macintosh Users Group (LIMac) July Meeting

July is all about backup and recovery. Prosoft Engineering, a company in the Macintosh industry since 1985, will showcase software which has been their focus since those early years of the Mac’s infancy. Company President, Gordon Bell, will discuss and demonstrate Prosoft’s data recovery and utility software for protecting and managing important data on your Mac. In addition, Mr. Bell will introduce The Data Rescue Center, Prosoft’s professional data recovery service.

Prosoft’s products include Drive Genius to maintain, manage and optimize hard drives; Data Rescue for emergency hard drive recovery and file recovery; Data Backup for easy, powerful and flexible backups; Klix for digital picture recovery; Hear for sound enhancement; and SoundBunny to control application volumes independently.

As a very special part of the presentation, Prosoft will raffle off a $50 iTunes Gift Card. Each member will get one raffle ticket and as a bonus, one more ticket for each product purchased. (Software purchase forms with special MUG pricing will be available at the meeting.)

Since backup is just about the most valuable habit you should have developed and recovery is almost as important you’ll likely get a lot of information to help you get a handle on these critical tasks during this presentation.

There are no SIG meetings this month, but the general meeting will begin with the two usual Q&A sessions followed by the Prosoft presentation.

I thought the meeting would run approximately 1 1/2 hours so I would get home around 9:pm. This was my first meeting so I guess I should have asked how long the meeting would be. (My bad:)

Good presentation. Learned more about data rescue services. Hope I never have to use the service, but I know it is there if needed.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
