  • October 19, 2013 · 12:00 PM

Ah, Los Angeles. It's full of vintage stores, the Fashion District, and every possible type of source anyone into costuming could need! So, let's all hop in a car and go!

Fun day wandering, followed by a night of debauchery at little Tokyo! Mochi and touching shit with do not touch signs!

Hey, are you guys leaving long beach at 12 or getting to the district by 12?

    October 19, 2013

    • Krystal

Leaving at 12. We're heading towards the copper design building, because there's parking there. Y'all can meet us there at 12:30.

Does everyone have rides figured out?

    October 19, 2013

  • Ganna

I can take 3 people, but I'm pushing this event back to noon due to cable guy shenanigans.

Sorry, I have to bow out.

How about we meet at #15 or #16 on this map? http://www.fashiondistrict.org/pdf/lafd_map.pdf That's by the public parking area.

Is the meeting place set yet? I will be coming from Venice although work has been a little crazy as of late so I don't know if I can make it to the 11am cutoff. Is the Sunday possibility still on?

    October 18, 2013

  • Krystal

Hey, I would love to go, but I'm not free until 11:30 (dentist). Is anyone going late? Or, what's your 3rd stop and I'll meet you up there.

    October 18, 2013

  • Chris

Where are you all meeting for this?

Sorry, I have to bow out. Trying to coordinate multiple birthdays (including mine), and I'm going to need time to prep the house :(

I can probably go the 19th. I can drive myself if there's no room.

    October 13, 2013

  • Harry H.

I can fit 3 more comfortably in my car, 4 if tripled up in the back, 5 if someone doesn't mind the trunk and, of course, being tied to the roof is always an option.

I wish I could go, but unfortunately have a prior engagement that day. Hopefully you guys will do another outing like this in the future.

http://www.fashiondistrict.org/pdf/lafd_map.pdf Here's a map of the Fashion District- looks like public parking is available by the textiles. I can fit 3-4 in my car if people want to carpool.

    September 29, 2013

    • Tracey

Hi! Do you still have room? I might be free and would like to go, but would need a ride from downtown Long Beach.

      October 7, 2013

    • Vicente Martinez J.

We can work out carpool arrangements prior to the event.

    Hello all,
I would love to attend this event, but will be out of town on the 19th. I spend an extensive amount of time in the fashion district for work There is a great parking structure on S Cecilia St -- small alley btwn maple /wall and 8th /9th, entrance is closer to 8th street. It is $7 all day on weekend ($4 during the week) cheapest parking I have found downtown.
    Have fun...

I might suggest changing the date to Sunday, Oct 20, meet up early at the LB swap meet, spend an hour or two there, and if people come up empty handed, make a plan to visit Out Of the Closet and some other thrift stores in LB, and then maybe head over to Savers. The swap meet serves food (mostly hot dogs and burritos), but there are other places where we could stop to eat along the way.

Thanks for the awesome suggestions! I think a clothing road-trip sounds like a wonderful idea. I may not be able to make it (on account of it being my birthday), but I would be happy to greenlight a second follow-up trip for the 20th (and especially for those who cannot make the 19th).

I will not be able to make the 19th. Got my roommates birthday adventure during the day.

LB has thrift stores all over, including Out Of the Closet on PCH. There's also a brand new, huge Savers thrift store (the Target of thrift stores) in the South Bay - specifically, in Lomita on Western Ave. And there's also the Long Beach Antique Market/swap meet at Veterans Stadium every third Sunday of the month. The next one is Sunday, Oct 20. There's always a lot of vintage clothes, tacky Hawaiian shirts and costume jewelry at the swap meet, although most of the clothes are for petite to small/average sized folks, so if you're plus size like me, I usually don't find a lot of clothing at the LB swap meet. I stick to the costume jewelry. But if you're small to average sized, I'm sure you can find some stuff there.

Ok, if we wanna do this before halloween, let me know when you're free. I can pretty much do any weekend, and I can drive people.

I know we've got a lot of events in the next six weeks or so, but fo we have a day picked out for this? Reckon we can have lunch in Little Tokyo while we're sort-of in the area....

I can come along if you need a human pack mule to carry stuff around and/or act like an imposing bodyguard. Just feed me and I'll be happy.

I would definitely love to go explore something like this! It will just depend on the date and time you decide to do it.
