Growing up is hard. You're no longer in the social cocoon of college life, but many of your friends have gotten married and/or started families. You have a nice apartment, but you're not ready to buy a 3-bed/2 bath house. You've got a steady job, but you're not the big boss. You still enjoy nights out, but you want to strangle the kids that won't stop taking selfies.
Making friends in Westchester can also be tough for 20- and 30-somethings. After all, this is the 'burbs, and it's full of families, playgrounds, and school systems. Things that should be so simple - like striking up a conversation at a bar - often seem awkward. And sometimes it seems easier to hang out on the couch with some Netflix.
Our group just wants to meet cool new people while enjoying awesome plates of food. Maybe we work in the same industry, live in the same town, or take the same train. Maybe we both love Star Wars, or have Bassett Hounds, or make really good pierogis. Or maybe we both really hate pumpkin beer. Whatever we have in common, we'll find something to chat about.
Whether you were born in raised in Westchester, relocated from NYC for a quieter life, or moved over here for a job opportunity, we'd love to hear your story. We just ask that you arrive with an appetite and an excitement to meet new people who can become close friends - and local ones, to boot!
We make an effort to host events in different parts of Westchester - the River Towns, the Sound Towns, and Central/Northern Westchester. It you've got a great local place for dinner or drinks, just email one of the organizers and we'll add it to our list of places to visit. Please also let us know if you have other ideas for Meetups (like a hike, a concert, etc.). Sometimes it's nice to burn calories instead of consume them!
