Tribal Beauty in Studio Portraiture

  • Feb 22, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

This session will focus on the beauty of African American women. We will create a tribal feel inspired by these images:

Our incredible team will be doing the styling work for you: Stunning makeup by our MUA's-

• Katrina Brown  http://katrinabrownphotographer.com -styling and lighting setup along with posing and guidance. I will be happy to assist you with composition, lighting corrections, exposure issues and much more.

While this is not a 1 on 1 workshop, I will do my best to assist you with any issues you would like help with. Pocket wizards optional but not mandatory as we will provide an off brand for you to use if you don't have one. No need to bring your own lighting. Everything else is done for you but you do need to bring your creative eye and a sense of humor or you won't have any fun with us!

Please note: Models tend to flake and we will do our best to provide comparable replacements if these come unavailable. Please, no refunds unless we cancel the Meetup and no tagalongs, boyfriends, parents or guests unless they have paid for a spot, thank you!

Currently Booked Models:

Wardrobe, makeup, talent, studio time cost money. A lot of money. We choose to shoot with a handful of photographers so we can actually get good shots. We dislike the paparazzi style fight-for-images style shooting so that is why our shoots cost more and have less shooters. Your images will reflect that difference.

Our little village got tribal. Our artist of makeup did their thing. Our village Chief of operations did her normal outstanding job keeping everything running smooth. I got a chance to meet some new family members. Our distinguish guest models where outstanding one and all. Our tribesmen and women old and new were outstanding. To see our future recorders of light and matter take their positions with no fear and a passion to record the events of "THIS" village was renewing.... Having the chance to witness a member of this tribe reach back to a process far removed and bring it to the forefront was awe inspiring and I encourage you to continue with the craft....Standing back to back with my brother is always great as we hunt for the perfect shot. Our family is growing constantly and I am proud to be a member in it....

Katrina, Corey, Grant..Thank you for being you! The tips and tough love was in over flow. Corey thanks for allowing me to borrow your lens which I'm sure costed more than the camera I had. Lol Grants comment to me is stuck in my brain. "You don't learn by doing things right you learn by fucking shit up!" And Corey.." Latay does the model know what you want?" Much love and respect! Muah!!

LaTay... little girl you almost yanked a tear out of my eyes!! You have a great eye as is apparent from your work. Shoot everyday and listen to every rule then forget the rules and remember why we do what we do. Look forward to working again soon niecee.

It's almost time! Please remember to bring at least 3 business cards or computer prints of your info for each shoot you attend to give to each model. Early birds please wait outside until your actual shoot time as there are other shoots ongoing. Check traffic often as shoots cannot be delayed due to late attendees. I'm excite to meet new friends and laugh with the old- let's have a great time! New attendees, more info can be found here: http://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Commercial-Editorial-and-Fashion-Photoshoots/messages/boards/thread/37741082
