Recently, Salesforce released a 'SQL-skin' for HBase called Phoenix, which makes it easier to use HBase at little to no cost - sometimes its even faster than using raw HBase! One of the most intriguing upcoming features of Phoenix is secondary indexing; it provides a bulk indexing and a synchronous indexing mechanism. I'll be doing a deep dive on how Phoenix builds and uses secondary indexes, as well as how you can build your own secondary indexes outside of Phoenix.

Jesse has been nerding out about distributed systems since college. Currently, he is a committer on HBase and working to make HBase ‘enterprise ready’ at – hacking on everything from security, to backup and disaster recovery. In his free time, he writes more code and trains for triathlons. Jesse is also a committer for HBase.

Unfortunately no. Given the size of the group we moved this to a room that does not support video recording in house.

I am excited for tomorrow's meetup. If you have not done so, please RSVP by EOD so that I can ensure you have parking available.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
