Los Angeles Hack Night

DreamHost provides the infrastructure, food, and beer.

Bring your own laptop and a project to work on.

What to expect:

Expect to find people sitting around tables talking about and working on their own projects. We don't have presentations, introductions, or structure so bring your own project, introduce yourself, ask people "what are you working on", find a seat and get yourself set up, hack away on your project, and have fun. Recruiters, spectators, etc. are not allowed.

RSVP:

We have limited space. You're required to RSVP.

Please change your RSVP if you can't attend.

Leave a comment about what you're working on so others can see what you're up to.

Getting to the DreamHost office:

Getting to the DreamHost offices for the first time is a bit tricky. Basically you end up taking 2 elevators.

1. Take your first elevator up a couple floors to the lobby with the security guard
2. Tell the security guard that you are here for the Los Angeles Hack Night at the DreamHost office
3. Take your second elevator to the 50th floor
4. Walk to Suite 5050

Parking:

I usually park in the underground lot at 600 Wilshire. $6 for the evening and you can retrieve your car any time by ringing the street level bell for the security guard to let you inside.

Across the street from 707 Wilshire is the Standard Hotel. Their parking lot is $10, and closes at midnight.

On 8th and Hope there is the Joe's parking lot, at $5. This closes at 9PM sharp, so be aware if you don't want your car locked in overnight.

Just next to that Joe's is a Central parking station. It's open until 10PM, and it's after-hours rate is $4.

IRC:

There's an IRC channel. "It's how hackers talk when they don't want to be overheard"

IRC: #lahacknight on Freenode

After-Meetup Drinks:

We usually go out for drinks afterwards, some place within walking distance.
