I think behavioral scientists like me (who typically have little training in computer programming and exploratory data mining or machine learning) should talk to people with such training more. Together we can do awesome research that is richer than what we can accomplish independently.
I'm not sure what machine learning is (that is why I joined this group, I'd like to learn :)) but if hypothesis-driven data analysis counts then yes.
I conduct hypothesis-driven statistical analyses on self-report correlational self-report and behavioral data from human participants.
Unsure for now.
I am a Psychology Ph.D., currently a postdoctoral researcher at USC. I study morality, political ideology, and relationships. I'm unsure if academia is my path, so I want to meet people "in the real world" and see what else is out there.
