MongoDB, E-Commerce, and Transactions

As a follow up to a very successful November Meet Up Group where Anand Nandukumar from Sony Pictures spoke, we have received commitment from Steve Francia, Chief Solutions Architect for 10gen (Creators and supporters of MongoDB) who will be speaking about building an e-commerce platform on top of MongoDB followed by a question and answer session.

Steve Francia is a Technology Executive (CTO, CIO, VPE) in New York City.

Audience was very engaged. More than 75 people in attendance. Great food and beer. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you Hasan and the rest of the organizers, and most importantly thank you LA tech community for coming out to support the Meet Up.

Great presentation by a very knowledgeable speaker. Steve and Ben could have talked low-level all night. We definitely need an encore...

This was a very well-attended presentation by an obviously knowledgeable speaker, well-coordinated by the 10gen team. I did notice that a lot of the question time came from people who are still evaluating MongoDB as a solution. As Mongo gains more of a foothold in LA, it will be great to have meetups that help more sophisticated developers gain better and deeper expertise as well.

Steve Francia (@spf13) was a great speaker. I came to hear about E-Commerce and Transactions and I got what I came for. I found his coverage on product schemas, and orders great. It made MongoDB alot more relevant for me as a .NET developer in the E-Commerce world. The other coverage on MongoDB use cases was nice too. Great talk. The Q&A sessions were good too. Lots of good fact and opinion. Ali & Ben from 10gen were great with the group as well.

Great meetup. @spf13 did an excellent job covering the e-commerce limitations and opportunities in a short period of time. Looking forward to the next one.

Steve's 'about' link has some markup piggy-backing on the URL. This should work: http://spf13.com/about
