ILLUMINATRIX: The 9 Atmospheres of Mary Magdalene

For those of us who grew up in the West, the Goddess has always been hiding in plain sight. As taught by early Gnostics, Mary Magdalene was and is Isis, Ishtar, Athena and many others - the Emanation of the divine that Jacobus de Voragine called both "Illuminata" and "Illuminatrix" - the Illumined and the Illuminator. The Cathars, later Essenes, and today's Gnostics all see the Magdalene as someone who cultivated Gnosis (divine knowledge / self-knowledge) and possessed the ability to see beyond consensus reality. In their traditions, Mary and Yeshua Ben Joseph become not only the new Adam and Eve but incarnations of the Cosmic Christ and Holy Sophia (the Divine Feminine personified by Ishtar, Isis, Athena, the Shekinah and more in other traditions). They are joint heroes in the Gnostic epic, as well as two pieces of the puzzle in finding spiritual liberation despite the fundamentalist forces raging around them - and around us, today. "Illuminatrix: The 9 Atmospheres of Mary Magdalene" interprets the Holy Grail "chalice" as an ancient symbol for the Divine Feminine, as the ancient goddesses are often associated with the "Vesica Piscis"--the () shape identified in the Greek New Testament gematria with "h Magdalhnh," the epithet given to Mary, whom early followers identified with "the tower / stronghold" in the prophetic book of Micah (Mary Magdalene literally means "the Beloved of the Tower"). "Illuminatrix" explores the Gnostic Gospel of Mary Magdalene in which Taoist and Buddhist concepts are presented in first century Abrahamic semantics and reveals the nine "atmospheres" of Mary Magdalene which, now more than ever, are applicable to our lives today. "Illuminatrix: The 9 Atmospheres of Mary Magdalene," presented by Daniel Metcalf at the Winnetka Tower, 7:00 PM Monday, April 7th 2014. As usual, we will share potluck libations & comestibles. A $10 donation is requested. In traditional writing and art, the Magdalene is certainly a captivating figure. But this Mary is but a small fraction of the figure that is truly a bringer of Gnosis and an inspirational cosmic force.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
