While Congress refuses to take up a health care bill that would offer universal coverage to all, the small island nation of Cuba has provided free health care for everyone for decades.

Come see the film ¡Salud! about Cuba's excellent health care system. Not only does Cuba provide free care for all, without predatory insurance companies making profits off the sick, it also sends doctors to poor countries abroad. From the shores of Africa to the Americas, ¡Salud! travels with some of the 28,000 Cuban health professionals serving in 68 countries, and explores the hearts and minds of international medical students in Cuba—now numbering 30,000, including nearly 100 from the U.S. Their stories plus testimony from experts around the world bring home the competing agendas that mark the battle for global health—and show how socialist Cuba is the leading example of how health care can and should be a human right. 93min., 2006.

$5-10 donation. No one turned away for lack of funds. Hosted by the ANSWER Coalition.

Plus: ANSWER member group the Party for Socialism and Liberation will be holding a Nov. 21 Socialism Conference at L.A. City College.
