Long Beach Environmental Committee Meeting

Sounds like this will be a brief, accept the status report.  The status report is not online so not sure what it says.

The City's current ordinance allows livestock in some areas of Long Beach, but not in others. The Environmental Committee is considering an ordinance that may standardize the City's livestock ordinance throughout the City, and create new standards for allowing chickens, goats and bees in residential areas.

This is what is listed on the agenda for the meeting and this is listed as the last item.

Recommendation to receive and file a brief status report on proposed community outreach efforts for potential revisions to Urban Agriculture

regulations. Suggested Action: Approve recommendation.

In the past, Gerrie Schipske, the 5th district councilperson, has put extensive surveys relating to city issues that the council is debating on her blog. I wonder if that is one of the places this survey will end up?

Not much accomplished. The discussion was about a proposed community survey that looked several pages long. Not sure who it would go to. Asks question about what people thought about different set backs, etc that i think most people can't answer. In the end the committee asked for the same thing that they did last time which is draft language for the new ordinances dealing with chickens, bees and goats. Survey presentation was postponed. I could have said more but i kind of spaced a bit. Would love to have more supporters at the next meeting. Only about 10 of us.
