new hens to the outdoors

Hello all,

I'm a silkie owner in Silverlake and I've met some of you at Lora's meetup. We've been raising 3 chicks (araucanas and brahma) in an indoor coop for 5 weeks and are getting ready to move them outside with the silkies soon.

We are very attached to them and I would hate to make a mistake during the transition. I'm mostly worried about them catching something from the sparrows who visit our yard relentlessly. Do any of you know if I should immunize them (they have only had medicated feed) or am I worrying unnecessarily?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Jennifer
