Want to have more Urban Chicken Meetups?

Hello LA Urban Chicken Enthusiasts!
Now that there are over 700 of us there is clearly a lot of chicken enthusiasm and a lot of desire to get together and talk turkey, or chicken.

So it would be great to have more meetups where people can get together. For the first two years or so I organized most of the meetups for the group, coordinating different people to host around the area so we could always have opportunities for people in different neighborhoods and to see different coops. But my schedule is increasingly busy and my enthusiasm is waning.

The LAUCE meetup website offers us organic organizing opportunities. It is time for the group to 'spread our wings' and take off. That means I am asking for members to step up and organize their own meetings. You can do this using the tools on the existing website. You can propose a meetup and if 3 people rsvp it becomes official.
Here are some guidelines and suggestions for meetings:

1) potlucks are always good
2) host at a site that has chickens, if you want to organize a meetup but don't have chickens yet, connect with another member who does have chickens but needs help organizing
3) the purpose is for like minded people to get together, have fun, and share information. Meetups should be free. You may not charge for any meetings unless you check with me first. If you want to invite a guest speaker and to offer them a speaking fee, that is fine, but run it by me first (unless I've already appointed you assistant organizer). But mostly I want the meetups to be free.
4) set both start and end times for the meeting. people can be so enthusiastic talking about gardening, chickens and such, you'll never get them to leave. So having a set end time is a good idea.

and a few extra suggestions- please use of discussion board to communicate, ask questions and help to strengthen our community. We also have a resources page that anyone can add too. Please look at the resources page and add information you think would be relevant to the group.

Thanks,
 Lora
