I was a vegan from 1995 until around 2007, when I began to eat the occasional range-raised organic egg. I eat no dairy. Haven't since 1995.
At first it was health concerns, but early on, by interacting with other vegans, I became aware of the environmental and ethical issues, so those are now a part of my vegetarian ideals. I hated adding eggs to my diet but had developed other health concerns that were probably related to a deficiency that the occasional egg prevents. Still... I hate the sulfurous odor and I abhor what is done to chickens on factory farms, so I endeavor only to buy from farms I know are allowing chickens to roam freely and live happy lives.
I'm a writer-- I love to write plays, skits, movie scripts. All my plays and skits were staged... and none of my movies were filmed... except for one, 48-hr film festival entry. I also draw, paint, love to sing, and I'm an actor. I do more acting than any of the other things... and I often do it for pay. Now that I'm in LA and self-employed, I plan to do much more. I am a recent cancer survivor. Still technically a cancer patient, but I anticipate hearing that I'm cured, in the next two weeks when I see the doctor. I believe juicing and a mostly raw, vegan diet can cure cancer, but mine was so advanced that I didn't think I had time to prove that theory. Besides... I'd been doing that lifestyle/diet for years before my diagnosis. And it looked grim. I plan to prevent any recurrence by adhering better to my ideal diet. Still, there are toxins everywhere... nobody is immune. I do like to eat a few vegan foods that don't really help the immune system-- and I shouldn't.
Hello, I am an actor/writer/artist living and working in Los Angeles. I'd love to join your group. I've been to a couple of the Ethiopian Restaurants in Little Ethiopia, including the vegan buffet. Loved them both! But I am always vegetarian.
