What is your favorite Italian film, book, food, music, city or vacation?

I Notti Di Cabiria da Fellini. Cabiria is the blueprint for so many amazing female characters, and the film gives me hope that no matter how awful life can be, you can move though it.

What is your interest or connection with the Italian language or culture? Are you of Italian heritage?

My father's parents are both Italian--Tocana e Siciliano. I try to speak with my grandmother in Italian once a month, but I don't do a very good job with that, which is sad because she is 88 and she has so many wonderful stories to share.

What level of Italian do you speak? How do you use the language now?

I have taken 2nd year Italian which is to say that I have decent use of present and recent past tense. My vocabulary is extremely limited, but I understand quite a bit when I listen. It's the responding that is more difficult!

How do you hope to use the Italian language? Do you have a goal?

I am a cabaret artist, and I'm hoping to write a show about the Italian American experience through language, culture, and music. Ultimately, I'd like to be writing my own music in Italian.

Ciao, tutti! I am new to Los Angeles and would love to meet new friends in my new city. I went to a summer immersion program at University of Pisa in 2009, so I'm also looking for a way to practice my Italian skills. Ci vediamo presto!
