Managing and Understanding Stock Option Strategies

Some of you have expressed interest in learning about Option trading and advanced option strategies.

Professor Steven Gail is teaching a course which I highly recommend:

Whether your personal investment style is conservative or aggressive, long-term or short-term, this in-depth course educates individuals on the utilization of options and demonstrates how options can add value to your current investment strategies. Intended for investors who want to utilize options as part of their overall investment mix, or for those who already employ options and want to expand their usage, this course explores the basics of options and some of the common misconceptions regarding them. Participants learn about the unique attributes of options and why investors have to think differently when investing in these instruments, whether as a stand-alone investment or in conjunction with existing stock positions. The course includes stock and index option strategies, as well as an understanding of the nomenclature of the terms used in option trading. Additional topics include the use of spreads, straddles, combinations, butterflies, condors, and other intermediate forms of option strategies.

For technical requirements.

Prerequisite: A basic understanding of the stock market is recommended.

Elective course in Finance Certificate.

Internet access required to retrieve course materials.

Does anyone know if this class will start up again. Or if this group will meet up? Looking for a trader who makes a living full time to possibly tutor me? Or offer some kind of paid hourly service to teach me there knowledge?

Hi Jess. The class should start again in April. We will give notice. Currently I'm looking for a few people to volunteer space or time as co-organizers of the group. The goal is to plan a quarterly meeting at least, or monthly meeting at best. So far no one has stepped forward to help plan these events. Ergo, I'll probably plan another informal get together as we had last year. From past experience, event participation rates range from 2% - 5% of overall membership. You can always reach out to professor Steven Gail. He is the most knowledgeable person I know when it comes to options.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
