And
Transmission of the 5 Mindfulness Trainings
In the Tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh
Led by Venerable Brother Thich Chan Huong Hue
Sunday, April 11th, 2010
In Davie, FL
From 10:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Venerable Brother Thich Chan Huong Hue is a Monastic Dharma Teacher who was ordained as a Buddhist monk by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Thây) in Plum Village, France, in 1992. He is also a monastic ordained member of Thây's Order of Interbeing (Tiep Hien) who currently serves as the Abbott of Tu Vien Huong Hai, a Vietnamese Buddhist Monastery in Florida.
This Plum Village-style Half Day of Mindfulness (DOM), conducted in English and Vietnamese, will provide a wonderful opportunity for those who want to deepen their mindfulness practice and formally take the 5 Mindfulness Trainings in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Throughout this half day, we will enjoy periods of sitting, walking, and chanting meditation, as well as a Dharma Talk and Transmission of the 5 Mindfulness Trainings by Venerable Brother Thich Chan Huong Hue. After the Ceremony, we will enjoy a traditional Vietnamese vegetarian lunch lovingly prepared by the monastic and lay Sanghas.
Please arrive by 10:30 A.M. so you can relax, absorb the peaceful beauty of the natural surroundings, and help the Sangha set up for the day. Formal activities begin promptly at 11:00 A.M.
In the Buddhist spirit of generosity and inclusiveness, Dharma Teachings are offered free of charge. However, voluntary donations for the teacher are welcome and your generosity in providing a donation or Dana for the dharma teachers and the monastic and lay Sanghas is gratefully accepted and encouraged. In order to help defray costs, the minimum donation requested to attend this event is $20.00 (this includes your lunch), but everybody gives what they can.
