Hi All:

I have to say Susan is right.  The people I met at the meetup were positive and encouraging, with great suggestions on improving one's writing without being demoralizing.  My last meeting I was able to attend was back in March, but due to hand surgery (which really limits writing and/or tryping) limited me for a while.  Hopefully when there is a Sunday scheduled meetup I'll be able to attend.  I'm back to writing again, but it's a slow go.

As a suggestion, maybe during the summer time weekends could be bad for a whole host of reasons.  Any thought to an evening meeting say around 7:00 p.m. or so on a Monday through Thursday?  Or gasp of gasps, have one more meeting on a Saturday, one more on a Sunday and maybe take August off from any meetups and then resume say the first weekend after Labor Day.

Those are my two cents.

Carol

Subject: [Loudoun-County-Writers-Group] Let's make our meetup group even better!

Hello!

First, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has joined the Loudoun County Writers Group! When I thought about starting my own writer's group, I thought it would be a miracle if I had enough people to even host a meeting! To see over 50 writers in the group, well, it just really makes my day!

Our writer's group is amazing - the talent, the personalities, everything just meshes together so well! I am so happy to have met you all who have attended meetups thus far. All of you are definitely a highlight to my weekend. To members who have not been able to meet up with us yet, I hope to see you soon! We are a great bunch of people and I believe the more writers we have present at our meetings, the better!

That is why I am sending this email. While I understand with the official start of summer is just around the corner, weekends start to fill up with summertime plans, which is completely understandable (summer is my favorite time of year after all!) I do ask that, for those members who have not made it to a meetup yet, to give us a try! Come on over and see for yourself the great dynamic that makes our group.

If you are unable to make it to a meeting, please feel free to post your work so you can still get the feedback we all enjoy at the meetings. If you choose to do so, we ask that you simply review the works of other members submissions as well to be fair and to foster a supportive network. We tend to keep the pieces short - no more than 10 pages. You can find more details in our upcoming meetup invite!

This is just the beginning of my plan to make our meetup group even better. Stay tuned to see what other ideas I have in mind! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me or post a message on our meetup page for a group response. Thank you.

Kindly,
Susan
biggrin
