Our last meeting was excellent but this one is going to be even better. I have received all of your comments and recommendations on how to make this meetup the best ever and am going to incorporate as many of your suggesstions as possible. This meeting with include information and speakers related to crew positions as well as actors. We will have professionals come and speak as well. I hope to see you there and remember to bring a friend. This meeting is dedicated to disseminating information on the industry as a whole. What productions are in town, who is hiring, what government is doing to protect our industry and incentives? The first part of the meeting will be distribution of this information so bring your notepads and any info you may have. The second part is pure networking...grab your resumes, headshots and join us! In addition, we break up into networking groups at the end of the meeting. These networking groups consist of: Cast Group - For actors and extras to share the inside scoop on who is hiring and how to improve your craft. Great place for all of you leads, extras and all of you that want to get your big break in front of the camera! Crew Group - For crew to discuss the needs specific to crew, how to interface with unions and how to find the jobs on upcoming productions. When you RSVP, be sure to list what you do such as camera, sound, gaffer, grip, etc... and what you want to accomplish at the meeting such as are looking for work, looking for crew, looking for contacts, just looking to talk shop etc…in the "add a comment" box. That way your Crew sub group moderators will know how to prepare for your meetup! Filmmakers Group - For filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers to discuss ideas and ways to hone their craft and help nurture more indigenous projects. Screenwriters Group - For Screenwriters and aspiring Screenwriters to share ideas, scripts and discuss topics pertaining to Scripts and screenwriting. Monthly meetups are an opportunity to network, share best practices and meet face to face with the best in our industry! Thanks for your interest in Louisiana Produces! Last night it was okay that we let everyone intro and a great way to discover who was in the room. In future weeks when there isn't an assigned guest speaker or there is spare time, it would be good to do this again - to have a time where voluntary general introductions are encouraged alongside event announcements. I also think casting/crewing up announcements need to be encouraged more; when Wayne induces a select few to raise their hands if they're currently hiring for a project, he should not stop there, but prod them to give a brief blip with specifics to the group if they'd like.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
