Louisiana Film & Entertainment Industry Meetup

Another great Meetup! Thanks to Nick Savides and Lynn Magnuson for giving us a view of our industry from the eyes of a screenwriter.

A suggestion has been made to make the December Meetup a social gathering. What say you - do you like the idea? Get back to us at [masked] with your thoughts on this. Comments here are fine too.

[masked] Great News Y'all - we have a venue for our "social." Its  Kermit's Speak Easy, 1535 Basin St., (504)[masked]. Kermit is planning on being there too, so let's say hello and thank him for hosting us!

Everyone is encouraged to bring business cards, head shots, promotional flyers for your business, etc. Let' s have fun and network! Food and drink will be available and we encourage everyone to enjoy them!

Also, Kermit has a very worthwhile project in which he will donate the toys to a non-profit organization in Treme that works with families in the area who may be having a tough time this holiday season. If you are able, it would be great to bring a toy for kids in the area.

Remember to eat, drink and party! See you Tuesday, December 3. We're going to have an unforgettable time!

It was great meeting with everyone. Please check out my photography at Cafe Istanbul in The Healing Center on St Claude Ave. I look forward to following up on your interests in photography or set dcot items. Enjoy !

Kermit is the BEST! Those who haven't been are in for a treat.

I've heard him play before, but never met in person and it's odd because he's walked right by me a number of times at the Superdome. I work there part time doing security and I'm often backstage. He may recognize me but we never have actually met. It should be interesting because I'm a musician also, and I've noticed in this town the musicians who are well known treat the newcomers really well even though they may just be starting out. It's one of the things about New Orleans that kept me here.

I am a history buff, and have so many great ideas in terms of creating films and videos. How can someone like me tap into the film industry for the first time?

Before meeting with either of them, someone email me first. I have a long history with both of them ... and there's more to them than meets the eye.

You should show up at some of the film meet ups. I don't believe you have to be a working filmmaker or actor to attend. Susie has several meet ups she helps lead, and I run the NOLA Screenwriter meet up with help from some friends. Join right in. As far as a doctoral dissertation ... that would be an interesting one!

I'm going to try and make this one. I've heard about that club and been wanting to go visit. Please let me know if there's any kind of cover charge, or is the night set aside for the film people? I've heard Kermit is a real nice guy and have been wanting to meet him too. I'm involved in acting, and also sing/play guitar/write music. This should be interesting.

We're shut out of this one due to the bar/pub setting. Have fun and happy holidays!

If it works better for members, we could have this meeting on a weekend night. It also might make sense to have it at The Brick, One Eyed Jack's etc. That would remove the issue of providing refreshments, etc.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
