July Open game Event

LOBA is the Louisiana Open Boardgamers Association of Lake Charles. We meet on the first Saturday of every month between 3pm and 8pm to play board games.

We welcome new gamers. Gateway games, fillers, dexterity games, strategy games, and war games will be available to play, but please bring your favorite as well! These are not your old-school board games. There is a huge variety of games at each LOBA event, including the latest Euro-style and designer games. They involve more player decisions, interaction, and fun. All rules are taught. Regardless of your favorite board game, LOBA exists to provide a safe and clean environment so that people of all ages can enjoy the hobby of board gaming and enjoy interaction with other people with similar interests.

The types of games that you will find at LOBA meetings include a wide variety of board and non-collectible card games. While the majority of games played at ROBA events tend to be European-style games, there is also room for board war games (i.e., War of the Ring, Axis Allies, etc.), or traditional board games (Scrabble, RISK, Monopoly, etc.).

The types of games you will NOT find at LOBA events are collectible card games (CCGs), collectible miniature games (CMGs) or role-playing games (RPGs).

Bring your family and friends. There is no admission charge. LOBA provides snacks and soft drinks at a nominal cost and feel free to bring your own food, but please no alcoholic drinks or game-unfriendly food (e.g., Cheetos).

While some of our members have hired an onsite sitter for their younger children this service is not free, However, if you want to use this service there is a charge of $3 per child per hour and we ask you to please RSVP.

LOBA meets at Lakewood Bible Fellowship Church in the south Lake Charles area. Lakewood is on the north side of Sale Road, west of Nelson Road, just minutes from I-210. The address is:

Lakewood Bible Fellowship Church
2520 W Sale Road
Lake Charles, LA 70605

I am always there until 8 pm sometimes later. We just never really start a new game after 8pm.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
