September Skeptics in the Pub

UPDATED: Directions and map below!

Please join us for our second Skeptics in the Pub! We have another fascinating presentation scheduled. This month, sports conditioning coach Jamie Hale will cut through the media hype to give us the scientific facts behind nutrition. Once again we'll meet at the fabulous New Albanian Brewing Company.

About September's Presentation:
With so much conflicting nutrition information and advice, how do we know what's right and what's wrong? Jamie Hale's "Nutrition: Fact or Fiction" lecture has the answers. Jamie Hale is a sports conditioning coach, author, lecturer, outdoor enthusiast, and fitness and nutrition consultant. He is the owner of MaxCondition Training and MaxCondition Nutrition. He has contributed to numerous exercise and sports publications (nationally and internationally) and has authored six books. Jamie is a member of the World Marital Arts Hall of Fame in recognition of his conditioning work with martial artists. He is the founder of HNE Research Group and a member of KASES. Jamie is currently working on a new book How We Know: A Guide To Reason with Brian Jones (Author, University of Louisville Professor). Check out Jamie's websites: www.maxcondition.com and www.knowledgesummit.net.

Location and Directions:

We'll meet just over the river in New Albany at our friendly neighborhood microbrewery, The New Albanian Brewing Company , in their private Prost! party room. Enter through the door marked "Public House", not the one marked "Pizzeria". The Prost room is to the right once you enter the Public House.
Directions:
From Louisville, take I-64 or I-65 to Indiana, then on to I-265.
Take I-265 to Exit 3 (Grant Line Road).
Head south towards New Albany.
Pass K-Mart on the right.
At the next light, turn left onto University Woods Drive, which runs between Kroger and Pizza Hut.
As the road begins to bear left, The New Albanian Brewing Company and their main parking lot is directly in front of you.
If there are no spaces in the small lot in front of the building, park across Plaza Drive in the parking lot for the Unemployment Office.
Map:
The following Google Street View image is looking right at the New Albanian building, as you head up University Woods Drive. Kroger is off-screen to the left, and the Unemployment Office lot is off-screen to the right: http://bit.ly/vi1h6......

Thanks! See you there,

I enjoyed tonight's meetup very much. I was interested in the topic (Nutrition: Fact and Fiction), and thought the presenter was very knowledgeable and engaging. It was a friendly, intelligent group, and a relaxed setting.

It was a smaller group this time, I'm sure partially due to the weeknight, but everyone seemed to have a great time and be interested in the talk. Lots of discussion afterwards! Jamie Hale did a good job explaining some of the myths about nutrition and I think everyone learned something.
