Hike at Clark State Forest

The bus leaves from St James Court at Magnolia at 9 AM.  The bus fare will be $5-$6.  After we hike we will eat at Emmanuel Methodist Church in Otisco, Inciana.  If you are eating with us you MUST let me know by Thursday September 19th.  The members of the church are cooking just for us and they HAVE to have an accurate count.  They charge about $10.00.

I was just told that the race will be ending by the time we get there. Wachovia out for a lady that may be directing traffic but she was told that there should be able to park up front near the entrance and near the shelter.

I was told by the hike leader that she would be contacting the organizer for the chicken run and would be directing hikers for the hike. We will be hiking one of the horse trails and the bus will have to take us there. (Not enough room for cars there??)

We are looking into parking somewhere else, but I haven't heard from the hike leader yet. Someone else mentioned parking at the pilot truck stop in Memphis. We are still working on it.

I was just told that if the run starts at 8 am that they would be out of there around 9 to 930 since it's only 4 miles. So your first plan maybe OK. It would be about over by the time you guys got to the state forest.

With 57 miles of hiking trails I'm sure there is plenty of trail to hike. I know there are some sections shut down like on round knob.

I live closer to Clark State Forest than I do St. James Ct. Would it be ok to just meet you up there?

Yes definitely. We have some hikers that meet us where we hike instead of taking the bus. Just look for a yellow school bus.

could you put how many miles the hikes are ,please?

That is sort of hard for specific hikes. For the most part they are about 4 miles. A lot of times we don't know until we get there and the hike leader tells us. They check the hikes out during the week and if there is an issue they change the hike. Saying that the hikes most of the time can be split up so that if someone doesn't want to walk that far, they can hike the shorter route or just return. We do have hikes longer than that on occasion, but again, there is usually a shorter version. Also, there have been times we have decided to try a different trail once we get out there and find out it really doesn't exist after we have gone half way. We did that at Knob State Forest once. Some of us ended up walking 7 miles, but it was a fun day.
