Hike at Fairmount Falls

We will hike at Fairmount Falls. Leader Nancy Bickel. Bus leaves from St. James Court at Magnolia at 1 P.M. . Bus fare will be $5-$6. You need to ride the bus as parking is limited. If you insist on driving meet at the Bootleg BBQ at the corner of Bardstown Road and Thixton Lane where the bus will take us to the trail head . If you drive there and ride the bus the rest of the way, please give a dollar for your ride. We have permission to park the bus and 4-5 cars ONLY! as this parking is private property. After we hike we will eat at Puerto Vallerta, 7813 Beulah Church Road

This was a great hike all around. The hike was a great experience. The weather was perfect. The sun was shining. The fellow hikers were so pleasant and made the day a joy.

In the future, for this hike I will be putting a limit on the hikers, which I have never had to do in the past.

There is NO MORE ROOM AT BOOTLEG! They are only allowing a couple of cars. The reason we don't limit the number of hikers is because we take a bus to the trail head who drops us off and then if there is no place to park (which in this case there is NO place to park at the trail head) then drives to another place. We then call the bus driver who then comes and picks us up. Between the meetup group and the hiking club itself, we have had almost 30 replies so there is no room to park at the trail head nor the BBQ.

I will probably meet at bootleg.

EVERYONE!! There is only room at the BBQ for the bus and a couple cars!! They do not want any more. Between the meetup group and the club itself we have gotten about 25 replies (I guess because of the good weather). There is NO room at the trail head, no parking. You need to ride the bus which leaves from Magnolia at 1 PM. (which means you will be eating) Now there is another business next to the BBQ, but I don't know about the parking.

This is the first group hiking event I have done. Do I need to know anything or bring anything special? Well besides my excitement to enjoy nature.

Please ride the bus as there is no room for parking. At least from the BBQ place. Also if you are riding the bus from Magnolia, that means eating with us as we go directly from the hike to the restaurant. Also, bring appropriate apparel, ie hiking shoes and water. It will be muddy this time of year.

Thanks. I will try and ride the bus.

The hikes are usually around 4 -5 miles, with a short hike option (normally) given in the beginning for those who chose that. Men, women and children are all welcome. You do not need to bring anything special but it's always good to bring water, a piece of fruit or an easy to eat snack, and a hiking stick if you have one.

How long is the hike? We have recently begun our fitness journey.

    March 8

    • Stephanie K.

This is about 4 miles. There is one hill near the beginning. (I take my time and they will wait for us at the top) The rest is pretty flat.

  • Debbie K.

Is this event for women only, or can I bring my husband too?

    March 8

  • Stephanie K.

Note: If we hike the same way as I hiked the last time, there is one hill I totally despise. The rest is pretty flat.
