What bands? There were bands!?
Yes, Marty - the music definitely played second fiddle (pun intended) to the socialising... but that's OK. As long as everyone had an enjoyable evening all's right with the world; or the LoGFaToaB(A) corner of it, at least.
Awesome possum weekend, Priya? Is that one where you climb trees and scramble around annoyingly inside the neighbour's roof in the middle of the night? I might try that next weekend just for something different.

Nigel Casson changed the date and time to Friday, July 12, 2013 at 9:00 PM
I put this one forward because I belong to another (non-meetup) group that converges in town on Friday evenings for dinner, and living as I do on the southern fringe of the suburbs (yes, I'm a fringe dweller), dinner by itself doesn't justify the trip (and petrol cost).
Personally I'll probably only get there perhaps once a month, but I'm happy to put up the dates and band info. If there's sufficient interest I'll make the trek this Friday. After all, as the instigator, it would be most remiss of me not to put in an appearance at the inaugural gathering.
This coming Friday 12/7 the artists are J.D. Love, former front man of 70s band 'The Ferrets', and local blues legend Snooks La Vie, so the tone is blues with hints of country and 60s pop. The music starts to flow at 9.00pm; the beer - probably earlier (for those so inclined). And it's FREE! (the music, that is).
