The National Gallery
On Friday late openings, The National Gallery puts on chamber concerts in the foyer of the Sainsbury Wing. With that as a starting point, we will go up into the galleries in search of our own music - the music which artists across the ages tried to represent in their paintings.
Music in paintings? What is the point, you may ask, if you can't hear it?
You'll be surprised to discover how often music features in art, how artists try to make us hear it and what symbolic meanings music carries.
A nice glass of wine afterwards in one of the gallery's bars.
