Jug Island & Woodhaven Series

  • Jun 1, 2013 · 10:00 AM

Let's hike along the Jug Island Beach Trail and geocache our way back to the parking lot. Afterwards, we'll stop by the 1km Woodhaven trail to pick up the 5 easy puzzle caches along that route. The target caches would be:

On the Jug Island Beach trail, in true team spirit, we will be trekking at the pace of the slowest hiker so all levels of ability are welcome. Be sure to pack a lunch and plenty of water. We will stop at one of the many lookout points to eat. We'll meet at 10am at the parking coordinates for GCGY95:[masked] 55.392.

Anyone new to geocaching is welcome to attend, with or without equipment.  Ahead of time, you may want to set up an account on and browse the website.  Geocaching requires the use of either a handheld GPSr device or an app on your smartphone.  I highly recommend an app, simply called "Geocaching", for anyone geocaching with an iPhone.  It costs $10 but it is the best ten bucks I've ever spent on an app.  I have an extra GPSr that I can load with the caches for this event and lend to someone.  You would have to provide two AA batteries.  Other items you may want to bring along in a small bag/backpack:  pen, flashlight, tweezers, gloves, small trinkets to trade for items found in the geocaches.
