Welcome to The Lumière Film Club.
A Weekly Film club for Sydney
as well as a Monthly Book club for the Sutherland Shire.
Named after Auguste and Louis Lumière who are credited with the world's first public screening of film. The Lumière Film Club is a terrific group for those who enjoy seeing a wide variety of movies including indies, documentaries, blockbusters, and foreign films. This group is focused on fostering the genuine enjoyment of seeing an interesting film with others, and having a stimulating discussion about it.
We primarily watch movies at Event Cinema George Street and Dendy Newtown. I welcome your suggestions for films you'd like to see.
Besides enjoying watching films, an additional component of the group is the Sutherland Shire Bookclub. Which meets at a cafe, or Sutherland Library for a friendly discussion of a book chosen for that month. You do not need to be Mortimer Adler (Author of 'How to Read a Book') to participate. Our discussions are completely informal and all viewpoints are welcomed.
