Know your Styles 4: The Baroque

Realism and high drama became the hallmarks of the Baroque style, which swept through Europe in the 17th century, initially as a tool of persuasion for the Catholic Church wanting to reclaim the hearts and minds of Christians lost to Protestantism. We will look at how artists made their paintings very persuasive by means of dramatic compositions, special effects, lighting and symbolism. Amongst them some of the greatest artists of all time, Caravaggio, Rubens and Rembrandt.

Price of £10 includes a glass of wine, a soft drink or a coffee.
