Presentation: Bitcoin: Introduction and Coding

Bitcoin adoption is starting to accelerate in the world of mainstream e-commerce.  If you don’t know what Bitcoin is then this talk aims to provide you with a basic understanding of it and other cryptocurrencies.  And since many of us are developers, it would not be complete without examples of how to write applications in this domain.  So, we’ll write a simple app that accepts Bitcoin payments.

Speaker: Matt Snyder + Kenny Younger

Matt is an independent technology consultant working as a software architect. His interest in cryptocurrencies began in late December 2013 when he inadvertently came across a Bitcoin YouTube video while he was procrastinating on wrapping Christmas gifts.  Since that moment the gifts did make it under the tree in time, and Matt has continued to explore the various aspects of this fascinating new technology.

Kenny Younger is an entrepreneur, developer, financial systems analyst, and an avid technologist. His passions lie with photography; great food; nutrition science; and advocating for open source software, Intellectual Property minimalism, cryptocurrencies, and libertarianism. He eats Paleo-ish and is an overlaugher.

Thanks everyone for joining us and asking a lot of very good questions!

Specifically there was a fellow sitting on the right side of the room (if you're sitting in the audience) that asked some great questions, and a few we didn't know the answer to, and I meant to catch up with afterwards and never got a name from him. If that's you, hit me up with a message if you see this — I'd love to follow up on one of them.

I mentioned during the talk a youtube video that I consider one of the better medium-deep-dives of how Bitcoin works.
