I thought last night was quite successful. Many great questions and the panel was also great. We should do this again.

Question: What light does Astronomy shed on why we exist? Or do we? Are we Halograms? Is there anything in Astronomy relevant to that question?

    August 8, 2013

    • Atif

As far as I can fathom, Astronomy can partially tell where we came from, but the answer to why we exist at all lies in the metaphysical and is as elusive as ever.

I wouldn't say we are holograms but if we delve deeper into that, we could say that to higher dimensions we could be.

I'm sure others would be able to throw more light on this question

    Submit questions for the meeting.
If you have a question you have been wanting to ask someone about astronomy, but really don't want to ask it in front of a group, write it down and hand it to me at the meeting. We want this to be a lively interactive discussion session.

If I could answer my previous questions I would say that the end of the universe is located at "No Thing", and i think it would look like "nothing" because it takes two objects to make something.

    August 4, 2013

  • Henry M.

Panel question: Where is the end of the universe located? What does the end look like? If it's a wall how thick is the wall and what's beyond the wall?

    August 4, 2013

    • Kevin D.

They say 14 billion light years. I'm not sure that I buy that. I suspect that 14 billion light years is more like the "horizon." On earth we can see only as far as the horizon yet, if you were to walk to the horizon what would you see: another horizon.

Thank you for those questions Hank. You win by default. Prize to be determined.
Now, we will start a new contest for the meeting.
A new rule, you must know the answer to the question you ask if you are able to stump the panel.

Hi, I am Liz and I am the secretary and club librarian. I enjoy learning as much as I can from others about astronomy. I also can share things from a librarians point of view.
