MCC Families / Rainbow Families of San Antonio (myspace.com/mccfamilies) organizes gatherings for those (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, or straight) with children, considering children or supportive of our families. MCC Families offers opportunities to be involved at MCCSA, making connections and offering support to each other and our community. What is MCCSA? MCCSA is Metropolitan Community Church of San Antonio. We are a church that is not focused on who you love on earth but who you love in heaven. Discuss important topics, such as "coming out" to your children, handling your child's peer concerns, school activism, playgroups, issues encountered in "straight" neighborhoods, bridging the gap for kids, etc. We provide a fun, safe environment for kids where they can be themselves with other children and youth of like families. We offer a diverse array of programs to engage, connect and empower children, youth, and their parents through various social activities and education. This free group addresses the unique social and emotional needs that GLBTS people have who are actively parenting children. We are here to offer support, community, to be an extended family and a knowing friend. You are not alone. Connect now. Dedicated to provide support for children of non-traditional and traditional families by teaching our kids to embrace diversity and have respect for themselves and others. Our goal is to build strong children and stronger leaders by enhancing their self-esteem, sparking ambition for achievement, promoting life-long learning and friendships, encouraging excellence, and broadening their knowledge of the world around them. Also dedicated to decreasing isolation for children of (LGBT) parents, and to bringing a voice to the experiences of these families. In addition to providing resources for LGBT parents and their families, it can be a forum for parents to network, plan and schedule events, play dates, etc, that our children and families can enjoy.
