Good afternoon all,
We are excited to announce our first concert of the[masked] season! On Saturday, October 19th at 7:30pm we will hear the professional Manhattan Chorale at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. Manhattan Chorale celebrates American Poetry, led by Artistic Director Craig Arnold with special guests and frequent collaborators.
American poetry resounds in both its foundations and frontiers. You can hear America singing just as Walt Whitman did, as the Manhattan Chorale celebrates both new and classic American poetry. Manhattan Chorale will explore influential work by the likes of Whitman and Teasdale, (special guest) Charles Anthony Silvestri and other contemporary poets on the frontier of American letters. The concert will also feature the pioneering music of special guest and Composer in Residence Ola Gjeilo, and other notable contemporary composers, including Eric Whitacre, Libby Larson and Stephen Paulus.
The New York-based Manhattan Chorale presents a historical spectrum of choral masterworks large and small, in addition to contemporary literature and the premiere of new works. The chorale currently features the work of internationally renowned Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo who also serves as Composer in Residence. Manhattan Chorale's debut sold out performance at Lincoln Center For Unto Us A Child Is Born in December 2012, featured two movements of Ola Gjeilo's Sunrise Mass and his Tota Pulchra Es. In addition to this performance, Manhattan Chorale will appear in venues throughout the United States with performances schedule at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and St. Paul Church in Cambridge, MA.
Manhattan Chorale and Chamber Orchestra are conducted by Artistic Director, Craig Arnold. Dr. Arnold has had an extensive career as conductor of choirs and orchestras of all ages; educator of graduate, undergraduate, high school, and middle school students; guest lecturer for teacher and conductor training; and frequent guest conductor and conductor having appeared in Japan, England, Scotland, Germany, France, Italy, Wales, Hong Kong, China and Spain, as well as recently completing a tenure as Director of Choral Activities and Conductor of the internationally renowned Nordic Choir at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Make sure to reserve your spot early for this concert before seats sell out. Once you have booked your tickets, they will be available at the venue one hour prior to curtain time on the day of the performance.
This is going to be an excellent concert! Looking forward to seeing everyone!
