ME2Bay is proud to announce our next seminar speaker: Dan Widmaier
Dan Widmaier is the CEO and a founder of Refactored Materials (www.refactoredmaterials.com), a San Francisco based Synthetic Biology company focused on high value natural materials including synthetic production of spider silk at scale. He has overseen the growth of the company from idea, to funding, to operation in the QB3 garage and beyond. He is a graduate of the UCSF Graduate Program in Chemistry and Chemical Biology (2010), where he worked in Chris Voigt's laboratory, and moved directly from Graduate School to Refactored Materials.
Dinner (graciously provided by Molecular Devices) and networking at 6 PM. Dan's talk will start at 7 PM.
I may have misread what this meetup group is about. Dan is a good speaker, but the presentation seemed focused on business strategy as opposed to the metabolic engineering techniques and/or particular evolutionary problems being addressed.

Very good, clear, fun and provided good advice on how to navigate the early stages of a SynBio venture. Loved the Q&A....quite thought provoking.

Anyone coming from UC Berkeley, or going back to Palo Alto afterwards, that I could hitch a ride with?
