XC Skiing at Huron Meadows Metropark

We will ski today. But, we will likely stay on Bunk’s Run
trail (see the tail map below) and maybe other few skate skiing trails they groomed. All other trails are all ice and not ideal for skiing.

If you are new to cross country skiing, I will teach you basics and you may try easy golf course trails.

The Skiing:
We may split the group depending on individual skills.
See the map below. The golf courses are easy and the hiking trails are moderate to difficult.

If the trails are going to be bad, probably not the best time to learn. I'm going to pass. Next winter for sure!

i just called and, while you shouldn't expect great snow, people are skiing it, so i'll be there. i'm guessing less then 7 out of the 14 people on the list right now will actually show up, but I WILL be there, and iko will probably be there too.

I just called the park. We will likely stay on Bunk’s Run trail and maybe other few skate skiing trails they groomed due to icy condition.

Too much snowboarding yesterday. Too tired to x-country ski... :(

It is likely we need to stay on 0.62 mile Bucks Run where they maintain trails. That will cost us extra $5 to use. Other trails are not ideal for XC skiing. They are more for ice skating at this condition.
I will call the park tomorrow morning to confirm the condition on Bucks Run as well.

Never went skiing cross-country, so I'm quite looking forward to falling down a lot. Lets hope the snow stays well.

I have only done skiing one time, so I am at the very beginner's level. Could I still go? Also, how much would it cost all together if I have no gears? I remember last time I went skiing, I spent almost $100 per person. Thanks!

It is XC skiing not downhill skiing. Much cheaper.

That's $5 for a day pass and $15 to rent skis. I highly recommend it. Much more fun than it looks.

Is there enough snow? Any hills?

    February 26, 2013

    • IKO

You don't have to go hills if you don't want to.

      February 27, 2013

    • Staten T. Middleton

Nope. I love the downhills. Not so big on the uphills. I can probably demo how to turn going downhill on cross country skis if anyone is interested.
