Update: I deeply apologize for not updating this event with exact details much earlier than this, but trust me; I have excuses (which you don’t want to hear).
The basic plan never changed, but here are the details you’ve been craving. There are still various options and, with a group this large, it will be easy to find others to do what you want to do. Everyone who wants to kayak should still be at the given address before 10AM. From there, you can decide if you want to kayak all the way to Kent Lake (where we will hang out, and take around 5 hours) or go easier (and cheaper) on kayaking, and driving to Kent Lake.
My kayaking plan: kayak from our starting point (given address) up the slow moving river for about 2 hours, then back down for another 1.5 hours or so. I was told that it is all very beautiful state protected scenic land we’ll be paddling though, and they highly recommended it for us. Also, for those of you bringing your own, it will be completely free. It is $40 up front, which includes deposit, and you get back $9 or more depending on how many hours you are out. Once we all get back, you can either call it a day or meet up with the rest of us at Kent Lake for swimming, volleyball, bbq, picnic, and other fun games. It could be very hot, so picnicking next to a lake will be a huge bonus. I think our goal will to be there by around 2PM.
Non-kayaking plan: just drive straight to Kent Lake, using these coordinates[masked],[masked], and meet up with everyone there. The fun will never end.
I will check my phone regularly, except when I’m in the water. Please don’t ask me for directions though, because I only know what my GPS tells me, and I won’t be able to guide anyone in, sorry. [masked]
We are confirmed for Sunday morning at 10AM. I suggest showing up at least 20 early to work everything out. Right now we are reserved f about 10 or 15 boats because events like this are terrible with no-shows. But I am impressed that 34 of you RSVPed before it was even announced. But it will get announced today. I'll reserve half as many as the total number to RSVP. If you are at all concerned about securing a kayak for yourself, you can always reserve one yourself.
I suggest bringing a cooler full of food and anything else you might want to bring in oder to have fun. I'm so happy to see so many new faces join us. It will be a great event to get to know each other.
I will have my SUP and will have a coupon to sell for $15 that will get you a rental. First come, first serve. Send payment to my email address: jimstange at gmail
