Heritage Park, Farmington (map)

Hike (for more than) the heck of it!

What is so great about hiking?

1. The scenery
2. Experiencing nature through all your senses.
3. The camaraderie of many like-minded people.
4. The Shenanigans.

What could make hiking even more wonderful?!

5. Bringing a wrapped toy to donate to my cause!

I'm a counselor at Northeast Guidance Center and work with many underprivileged and homeless families. After counseling many of these families and children, I realized that hardly any of them will be receiving any presents for Christmas this year. My program was privileged enough to be donated a space to provide a "Santa Bowl" for these families this Christmas so that the families can bowl together and eat pizza. Now we're looking for people to donate new wrapped toys under $10 for ages 2 - 18 so that these kids can possibly receive a present this year! I will be leading 3 hikes before our Santa bowl. I hope you can join us for the hike and donate a present each time. My program serves 126 kids.

So come out to hike and make a kid happy all at the same time!

P.S. I'll post pictures of the kids receiving their presents on this site after our Santa Bowl so you can see all their happy faces!

YES! Actually, books and board games are the best things to get!

How do you want the gifts labeled (e.g. a description of the contents "e.g. Candyland board game" or something like "suitable for female age 8-10")? Do you want them wrapped with bows (prettier) or without bows (easier to handle/transport)?

Great questions Vera! No bows please (easier tranport). I'm bringing a sharpie to label the presents myself. I'm using "Code" to label them so the kids wont know what's inside. So just hand me the gift, tell me what it is and the age group and I'll label it myself. Thanks!!

If Charity doesn't wear us all out, and there's time after this hike before the Cowley's meet 'n greet, I may head to Woodland Hills for another 1.7 miles of trails. It's located just a mile or two north of Heritage Park, just south of 696.

WOW! With so many people attending, our hike may turn into a slow crawl. So I will split the group up 20/20 w/ Bettina leading one group and me leading the other. Keep in mind, I'm taking present donations at 1:00 so the hike will probably not get started until 1:30.
