If you are renting the craft from livery, the permit to the river comes with it. If you are bringing your own, you need to have your own permit from US Forest Service.

      August 16, 2013

    • Nicole

Oh okay thank you for the clarification. Is anybody up there yet? Do you know what our campsite is?

      August 16, 2013

  • Jackie

Hi. Just called the usfs in Baldwin and found out no more permits available for tomorrow so if you haven't obtained a permit yet you will need to rent.

    August 16, 2013

  • Jackie

Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow !

We will be getting there early afternoon on Friday. What campsite numbers should we be looking for? Or what name are the sites under?

    1 · August 15, 2013

    • Nicole

How many people can go on a group site? Do they charge per person? Where does the MAC fee go to? What site number are we on?

      August 15, 2013

    • IKO

20+ can be on the group site. They charge per person and don’t assign campsite number until we get there.
The rest of the fee goes to MAC general account to cover Amazon charge and other expenses.

Is the plan to meet there at 9pm?

    August 15, 2013

    • IKO

It doesn't matter what time you will be there.

      August 15, 2013

  • Nicole

What kinds of things can be brought on a potluck if we don't have refrigeration?

    August 13, 2013

    • IKO

We can just buy food to cook from nearby grocery store for potluck. It is about 15 min driving. Or, we can just go to the restaurant. That is lazy option. :)

      August 13, 2013

  • Brooke

would anyone like to do a potluck for Saturday night?

    August 13, 2013

  • Brooke

Will arrive in the afternoon on Friday.

    August 13, 2013

  • Charity M.

We will be arriving some time in the Afternoon on Friday. We already reserved our kayaks.

    August 12, 2013

  • IKO

I am leaving from Southfield at 6:30PM on Friday.
I can pick up others from Brighton at 7PM.

On Sunday, I can leave at any time.

I have Prius. Anybody wants to carpool with me?

    August 10, 2013

    • Brooke

I will meet you at Brighton Carpool lot. Thank you!

      August 12, 2013

    • IKO

Yes, I do. I can take you both.

      August 12, 2013

  • Charity M.

Do we need to reserve our kayaks in advance? Or do we just rent them when we get there on Saturday?

    August 8, 2013

    • IKO

You can rent on Saturday. But, I will call them tomorrow. They don't run out kayaks usually.

      1 · August 8, 2013

    • IKO

I was wrong. They don't run out canoes but they could run out kayaks. So, call them to make your reservation if needed.

      August 10, 2013

  • IKO

If you need to rent a water craft, please call Pine River Paddlesports and make your reservation under my name, Iko Suzuki.
They could run out if you don’t reserve and pay in full in advance.
They almost always have canoes available, but kayaks and rafts are not guaranteed on Saturdays.
They accept VISA, Master, and Discover.
Sorry, no Standup Paddle Board this time!! We are going to the lower part of the river which is difficult for SUP.

I was thinking the exact same thing, Kelly. Last year was a blast but I'll be on that Pictured Rocks trip that weekend too. Damn you, Kevin, for not picking a different weekend! :-)

      July 22, 2013

  • Brooke

    I am available for carpooling.

    July 15, 2013

  • Charity M.

Brian and I will be coming. Can't wait!
