Professional SUP Instruction (group discount and extended time on water)

Last minute update:  I just learned that Maple Beach is closed so we will be meeting NEXT to the beach at the BOAT LAUNCH, still at Kensington.  Sorry for the last minute change (but it wasn't my fault). Remember, try to get their early.

We’re really lucking out on the weather, it should be 80 degrees and sunny.  I’m going to bring a cooler with drinks and food to grill, and a small grill with charcoal.  If someone else brings lighter fluid, I’m happy to share my grill with whoever would like to use it.  I figure if we’re going to be hanging out on a nice beach, we might as well make a full event out of it, right?

Also, because I know there will be some no-shows (there always are), I’m going to open the event up to the waitlisted people, and make it first come, first serve.  If you want to guarantee a spot at 10AM, you’ll want to arrive earlier.  I’ll probably be there by 9:30 at the latest.  I’ll also bring my volleyball and net if anyone wants to play.

A professional SUP (Stand Up Paddle-board) instructor recently offered my group a great discount if I can get more than 10 people to show up to the event.  She’s been doing SUP for six years (in other words, she was one of the very first people ever), teaching and racing for 4 years, and teaching though Huron Valley Parks and Rec for 1.5 years.

For just $35 she supplies everything.

The class is 2 hours long and the best part is that we can continue to use the boards after the lesson.

I’ve seen many parks rent them for as much as $20 an hour with no instruction at all, and she’s offering well over 2 hours of time AND professional instruction for just $35!!!

I debated whether to charge up front for this or not, and decided to hope most people just show up and pay her in person. Please only RSVP if you are at least 80% sure you can make it, and update your RSVP if your plans change.

(I’m cross posting this event because it’s so great I don’t want anyone to miss it, but please don’t RSVP more than once because I need accurate numbers.)

My sentiments exactly! I'm down with eating seaweed, not swimming with it.
