A little easier walk then normal as I am three weeks out of foot surgery. If you get mad at me and really want to hurt me, just step on my foot and I will scream like a seven year old girl whose pony just died. Anyway, that is not relevant to the discussion. The relevant detail is that I plan to walk around the yellow trail of Island Lake Recreational Area at a light to moderate pace for about 2.5 hours. Dogs, or any other furry animal (i.e., cats, llamas, Sasquatch) you wish to put on a leash, are allowed. Bring snacks and drinks- we will take a few small breaks.
Take I-96 to exit 151 South (Kensington Road). The park entrance is less then a mile away and it goes underneath Kensington Road (it looks weird when you get mapped direction). The road in the park is Kent Lake Beach Road and you drive about 1 mile on it until you get to a parking lot on the north side.

Do not google Island Lake and get directions from there- you will go to the headquarters and the rangers there have been instructed to mock you. Please use the links above- the satellite map is especially useful.
This is a state park so you need the Recreation Pass on your license. If you have not registered your car yet then you might get a ticket for $11, which is the cost of registering your car. You will also get a permit with that $11.
We are going to go to somewhere new for me: Bar None Restaurant at 11600 Grand River Ave, Brighton, MI 48116. It is about 2 miles from the park and very easy to get to. If you plan on going, please bring directions with you.
